Aconcert that will mark the 5th anniversary of recognition of independence of the Republic of Abkhazia

Tuesday, September 3 will see a concert at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow that will mark the 5th anniversary of recognition of independence of the Republic of Abkhazia by the Russian Federation. The event is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Abkhazia and is part of the Russia−Abkhazia cultural seasons. Besides Hibla Gerzmava, the concert will feature famous Abkhazian performers — soprano Alisa Gitsba, organ player Luka Gandelia, soprano Kristina Eshba, bass Alhas Ferzba, tenor Rodion Khagba, pianists Sofia Narmania, Diana Bagdasaryan, and Astanda Bagatelia. There will be guest performers too — baritone Vasily Ladyuk, Orchestra of the Moscow Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theatre conducted by Felix Korobov, and the Grand Academic Chorus «Masters of Choir Singing» conducted by Lev Kontorovich. The event will be hosted by musicologists Esma Djenia and Artem Vargaftik. The concert will feature famous opera arias and duets, works for piano and organ, as well as Abkhazian folk music.
