Nominees of the Russian Theatrical Golden Mask Festival and Award have been announced

On November 17th, nominees of the Russian National Theatrical Golden Mask Festival and Award have been announced. Moscow Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theatre that in May 2011 presented the premiere of Jacques Offenbach’s opera Les contes d’Hoffmann will compete for Russia’s highest theatrical prize in several nominations: Hibla Gerzmava, who received the Award in 2010 for the title role in Gaetano Donizetti’s opera Lucia di Lammermoor, this year nominated for the performance of the four parts in one opera (Stella, Olympia, Giulietta and Antonia), Dmitry Stepanovich (Lindorf, Coppelius, Dapertutto, Miracle) nominated for the Best Male Singer, Alexander Titel — for the Best Opera Director, Yevgeny Brazhnik — in the Conductor nomination, Valery Leventhal — for the work of Designer in Opera Production, Damir Ismagilov — for the work of Lighting Designer in Opera Production. Together with the Les contes d’Hoffmann production itself that will fight for the title of the Best Opera Production, this year the Theatre is represented in seven categories. In Les contes d’Hoffmann, by going on a challenging experiment, which for 130 years since the creation of the opera was ventured only by a few, Hibla, realising the idea of ??the composer, has done nearly impossible, playing and singing parts of three characters that are completely different in their nature and dramatic vocal technique, representing the facets of a perfect Woman, a Woman-Dream, a Woman who sings…
