On Wednesday, June 19, Hibla Gerzmava alongside Sir Antonio Pappano, Thomas Hampson, Sarah Connolly, Rebecca Evans, Bryn Terfel and other singers of the Royal Opera House will take part at the event hosted by the Royal Family at the Buckingham Palace. The charitable gala Golden Story: Shakespeare’s gift to opera is one of a few fundraising events organised by the Covent Garden that Hibla previously took part in twice — in Abu Dhabi in 2012 and in London in 2011. Producers Lady Chichester and Danny Wyler as well as Nick Hytner, the Director of the London’s National Theatre, will present a program of operas based on Shakespeare’s works. Together with Thomas Hampson, Hibla will sing the duet from Giuseppe Verdi’s Otello.
