On November 9, the ceremony of awarding the VIII National Opera Prize “Onegin” will take place on the historical stage of the Mariinsky Theatre. For the eighth time, the best performers and the best premieres of the previous theater season will receive bronze Onegins for significant achievements in the art of opera.
Every year, new productions, the singers participating in them, as well as entire theater groups are nominated for this award. In non-competition categories, bronze Onegins are traditionally awarded to outstanding figures in the opera world as a sign of recognition and respect.
The awarding of the laureates is accompanied by a large-scale gala concert. World opera stars and honored guests of the award take the stage.
The famous Italian bass Ferruccio Furlanetto, soloist of La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera, Covent Garden, and kammersänger of the Vienna State Opera, will sing at the gala concert at the presentation ceremony of VIII Onegin. Russian stars such as Maria Barakova, Inara Kozlovskaya, Igor Golovatenko, Ivan Gyngazov and, of course, the president of the Onegin National Opera Award herself, Khibla Gerzmava, will perform. The ceremony will again be hosted by actress and TV presenter Sati Spivakova, accompanied by Yulian Makarov. Maestro Valery Gergiev will take the conductor’s stand.
This year, the VIII National Opera Award “Onegin” was supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, ROSCONCERT and PJSC Promsvyazbank.
