Two weeks before the New Year, Hibla Gerzmava will make a visit to St Petersburg to appear in a pair of Verdi performances at the new Mariinsky Theatre (Mariinsky II). On Saturday, December 14, she will sing the soprano part in Verdi’s Requiem alongside mezzo-soprano Ekaterina Gubanova, tenor Sergei Semishkur, bass Mikhail Petrenko, the Mariinsky Chorus and Orchestra under Valery Gergiev. This will be followed by the role of Violetta Valery in Verdi’s La traviata (production by Charles Roubaud, 2002), again, conducted by Valery Gergiev, on Sunday, December 15.
